Journey Films Comes To Park City

Business New Haven
6/14/99
By: BNH
BRIDGEPORT- Journey Films, a full-service film production company from New York, has relocated to the Penthouse at 189 State St., Bridgeport. Part of a statewide campaign to attract arts and entertainment firms to the Constitution State and local efforts to stimulate development within Bridgeport's city limits, the company will provide the spectrum of corporate communications products, from industrial videos and corporate films to high-end television commercials.

According to Nelson Nazario, Journey's production chief, the company has more than 30 nationally known directors and several highly experienced producers available. "Our menu of top talent," says Nazario, "allows Journey to occupy a unique niche in the Connecticut market. Our high-tech facility, with its surround-sound room, broadcast-quality editing suite and state-of-the-art multimedia division, makes Journey Films a one-stop solution for any corporation planning a communication product or publicity campaign."

The incentives offered by the Bridgeport Economic Resource Council, the Grow Bridgeport Fund and the state, which designated downtown Bridgeport an arts and entertainment enterprise zone in 1995, combined with support from People's Bank, led the company to relocate to the Park City. Journey Films has three projects currently in production and several more in incubation.

BBB Cautions Donors to Kosovo Relief Appeals

WALLINGFORD - Many relief organizations are conducting campaigns to raise funds to help refugees and their families from Yugoslvia and surrounding areas. But the Better Business Bureau has issued a warning to potential donors against fraudulent appeals. "Given the seriousness and emergency needs of the refugees, this is all the more reason for donors to check each organization and be sure they will wisely and effectively use their contributions, " says Paulette Hotton, president of the Connecticut Better Business Bureau. A few of the tips issued include: don't give out your credit-card number to a phone solicitor; don't give cash; ask for written information describing the charity's programs and finances; be wary of organizations that are reluctant to answer reasonable questions. And finally, don't be afraid to check out relief charities through the BBB. For a complete list of guidelines call 203-269-2700.
