WALLINGFORD - The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a patent to TransAct Technologies Inc. covering its proprietary method for converting a full-color image to a two-color image plus background color, suitable for use on a point-of-sale (POS) printer.
Explained Bart C. Shuldman, TransAct's chairman, CEO and president: Our color-conversion application can take images with hundreds of colors and convert them into two- and three-color printable images. Existing full-color logos, graphics and coupons are easily converted to POS format without the need for designing a new two-color logo.
The first target market will be the retail sector where companies will now have a cost-effective means to differentiate their brands with consumers through dramatic, colorful graphics, targeted promotions and retention offers, added Shuldman. This technology will also assist companies in industries such as the financial-services and bar-code markets.
