MILFORD - In a drive to expand its small-business customer base, giant office supplier Staples Inc., has agreed to acquire privately held Claricom Holdings Inc. for $140 million in cash. Based in Milford, Claricom maintains about 60 sales offices nationwide and provides more than 100,000 business customers with advanced telecommunications services such as voice mail, automated call distribution systems and video conferencing. The purchase agreement is subject to approval by federal and state regulators.
