WATERBURY - Webster Financial Corp. (NASDAQ: WBST) posted operating earnings of $20.1 million (52 cents per share) for the quarter ended September 30. This represents a 46-percent increase from the $13.8 million (35 cents/share) for the comparable 1997 period. Webster Financial Corp. is the holding company for Webster Bank.
