WALLINGFORD - Amphenol Corp.'s (NYSE: APH) net earnings for the quarter ended September 30 came in at $8.2 million (46 cents per share), compared to $8.6 million (48 cents/share) for the same 1997 quarter. Sales for the third quarter 1998 increased to $229 million, representing a three-percent increase. For the first nine months of 1998, sales were $685.5 million vs. $662.3 million for the same period one year ago. Earnings per share were $1.58 diluted for the period, compared to $1.33 diluted for the comparable 1997 period.
