NORWALK - Oxford Health Plans (NASDAQ: OXHP) announced that it plans to continue its participation in Medicare, but with a reduction in the size and membership of its program. The approximately 17-percent reduction means the elimination of Medicare services to more than 25,000 Oxford members. The company had suspended its enrollment of new Medicare members in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania in June. In 1999 it will offer Medicare service in 21 counties in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. The stock closed at 10 1/8 on October 2.
