CHESHIRE - Earlier this Liberty Bank opened its 33rd banking branch, at 160 Highland Avenue in Cheshire, with an official ribbon-cutting and the presentation of $5,000 to local non-profit organizations.
When we move into a new community, we want to establish the bank as a good neighbor right from the beginning, said Paul McConnell, the bank's president and CEO. So when Liberty Bank sets up shop in a new place, so does the Liberty Bank Foundation. The foundation provides charitable donations to non-profit organizations in communities served by Liberty Bank. It has made more than $1.7 million in grants since its inception in 1997. Cynthia Pomerleau, manager of the new office, presented checks to representatives of the groups including the Cheshire Senior Center, Cheshire Police Department, Cheshire Fire Department, the town's Department of Human Services and the Cheshire Community YMCA. Each received a check for $1,000.
