Nitsuko and Oki Join Forces
SHELTON - Oki Network Technologies of Sunnyvale, Calif. will allow its award-winning BS1200 Internet Voice Gateway device to be marketed under the Nitsuko brand throughout North America. The agreement combines Oki's expertise in product innovation (the BS1200 connects existing PBX-based analog phone lines and digital data networks without the need to add a separate server) with Nitsuko's strong presence in the telecommunications marketplace. Founded in 1918, Nitsuko has grown into a diversified corporation with sales exceeding $800 million worldwide.

Yale Forges Ahead in 'Spintronics' Research
NEW HAVEN - Reporting their results in the July issue of Science, a team of physicists from Yale University and Bell Labs have been using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology to study the spin state of electrons inside semiconductors, research that many experts consider critical to the development of faster computer chips and more efficient semiconductor lasers. By applying developments in the new field of spintronics, researchers hope to create advanced quantum computers that will encode information in different spin states, instead of in binary digits. Funding for the research came from the National Science Foundation and Bell Labs parent company, Lucent Technologies.
