BRIDGEPORT - St. Vincent's Health Services Inc. has announced that it will become a member of the New York Presbyterian Healthcare Network in New York City. This will result in an affiliation with physicians from the Columbia Presbyterian campus with which St. Vincent's will associate its postgraduate medical residency program. St. Vincent's will now also have a direct link to New York Presbyterian and Columbia's tertiary programs, including organ transplants, high-risk newborn care and burn care. This arrangement is not a merger, and St. Vincent's Health Services Inc. will continue to be owned and sponsored by the Daughters of Charity National Health System, the largest non-profit health-care system in the country.

New MRI In Milford

MILFORD - Milford Hospital has recently installed the Gyroscan NT, one of the most advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems available. This apparatus allows the patient to keep his/her head outside the machine while the diagnostic testing is taking place, eliminating the problems of claustrophobia. MRI testing allows doctors to view a patient's body without the risks of radiation. The Gyroscan NT is part of the state-of-the-art diagnostic center at Milford Hospital. Along with the Gyroscan NT, there is a new ultrasound system and the latest spiral CAT scan machine. Milford Hospital serves 75,000 patients a year in Milford, West Haven, Orange, Woodbridge and Stratford. The facility has recently completed a $25 million renovation project, which includes a walk-in center, intensive care unit, emergency center and a family childbirth center.
