The directors of Northeast Utilities (NYSE: NU) authorized the repurchase of ten million shares of the company's common stock. This plan is in conjunction with the restructuring of utilities in the New England area. NU has approximately 130 million outstanding shares. Northeast Utilities operates the Millstone 3 nuclear power plant in Waterford.
