The Wallingford-based Amphenol Corp. (NYSE: APH) has announced an 18-percent increase in net income for the second quarter ended June 30 at 59 cents per share (58 cents diluted), a record for the company, vs. 50 cents a share (49 cents diluted) for the second quarter of 1997. For the first six months of 1998, income was $1.14 a share ($1.12 fully diluted) vs. 87 cents per share for the first half of 1997. Sales for the six months ending June 30, 1998 were $456.5 million versus $438.8 million for the six months ending June 30, 1997.
