In a June 1 editorial you stated, Today, the Republicans hold precisely one seat (on the 30-member New Haven Board of Aldermen).
I'll grant you that two is not nearly enough, either, but wonder which alderman you weren't counting: Deputy Minority Leader Anthony Santino (R-18), elected last November to a second term with more than 1,000 votes, the highest number received by any candidate for alderman, or Minority Leader Nancy Ahearn (R-25), re-elected to a fourth term with a 63-percent plurality.
Both Santino and Ahearn have received a fair amount of media coverage elsewhere, most recently as they have been asked to comment on the latest scandal swirling around the City Hall Democrats. How did you miss them?
- Sandra D. Astarita Republican Town Chairwoman New Haven
The editor replies: We apologize for the error, and wish only that it did not dilute the editorial's message, which is that voters are ill-served by single-party government.
AMPLIFICATION
Due to an editing error, a June 15 OUT TO LUNCH review of Donovan's reef omitted the initial reference to restaurant manager Josh Kroop, referring to him by his surname only. We regret the error.
