HAMDEN - The Cellphone Store has opened at 1564 Dixwell Avenue, offering cellular phones, accessories and phone cards. Says Cellphone Store owner Willie McKay, “This particular market is getting larger and we found a good location with virtually no competition between the New Haven line and Hamden Plaza.” For New Havener McKay, it's another opportunity to flex his entrepreneurial muscles; he also owns a mortgage company.
The remodeled 1,500-square-foot retail store carries Verizon, Cingular, Voicestream and AT&T Wireless products, and will be expanding to offer Nextel, Sprint PCS and paging services within a few months, says McKay. The Cellphone Store also has package deals for small-business and corporate customers. The store is open 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. daily except Sunday.
