WALLINGFORD - Novametrix Medical Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: NMTX) announced record results for the quarter and year ending May 3, 1998. For the year, revenues increased to $31.6 million, a 12-percent increase over prior year revenues of $28.3 million. Net income grew 39 percent to $2.9 million, compared to $2.1 million the year before. Earnings per share (diluted) of 31 per share for 1998 were up 24 percent over the 25 cents posted in 1997. For the fourth quarter ending May 3, results were equally rosy. Revenues increased 17 percent over the prior year to $9.3 million, and Novametrix posted a 61-percent increase in net income to $1.2 million (13 cents/share) over the $754,000 (nine cents/share) recorded for the fourth quarter of 1997. This is the seventh consecutive year Novametrix has posted earnings growth in excess of 30 percent. Novametrix closed at 7 3/4, up 3/8 for the day, on June 26.
