Mariner To Be Sold

ANSONIA - Mariner Health of Southern Connecticut will be acquired by Spectrum Health Care of Vernon, which operates the Birmingham Health Center in Derby, for an undisclosed sum. Atlanta-based Mariner is reorganizing after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January 2000. Spectrum, expects to take over the business and building leases on or about February 1, will change the Ansonia facility's name to the Hilltop Health Center. It is not yet known how the sale will affect Mariner's 175 employees and 90 patients.
