WALLINGFORD - Amphenol Corp. reported that its first-quarter revenues jumped eight percent over the previous year to $228.5 million, with net income of 55 cents per share compared to 39 cents for the same period in 1997. Revenues for the company's connector business increased 13 percent on a constant-dollar basis, substantially above the industry average, reflecting strong sales growth in the communications and aerospace markets. Amphenol says that an increase in domestic sales of coaxial cable offset a weakening in Asia and other international markets, resulting in a modest overall sales increase in its coaxial cable business for the quarter.
