Roll of the Dice
I enjoyed your coverage of Bridgeport, in particular your interview with Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim (BNH, April 20).
It will be interesting to chart the fate of Bridgeport's nearly-billion-dollar Harbour Place development, especially since it calls for a nine-figure investment of taxpayer dollars to make it a reality.
Will people from New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts come to Bridgeport for entertainment, dining, shopping and lodging? That's the key question, and an enormous investment of public and private resources are riding on an affirmative answer to that very question.
I hope that Business New Haven will continue to follow closely the important economic-development issues facing Fairfield County and all of Connecticut.

Profits Ahead of Patients?
Your story about Fairfield County physicians accusing HMOs of owing them something on the order of $60 million in past-due payments was quite interesting (BNH, April 20).
The saga of Oxford Health Plans ought to alert us all to the specter of HMOs' creative financial tactics at a time when the health care industry becomes ever-more focused on profits - perhaps ahead of patients.
However, in the interest of fairness, I would have liked to have read the explanations of organizations like Aetna and Physicians Health Services. I believe it would have lent balance to your story, overall.
I hope you will continue to follow this important story.
