Four Names, Three Bests
STAMFORD - With three Best in Category wins at the recent Mobius Awards, Marquardt & Roche/Meditz & Hackett topped all agencies billing less than $100 million and topped many $1 billion-plus agencies. M&R/M&H also won more top awards than any other New England agency, in a contest considered one of the most prestigious for advertising in all categories.
M&R/M&H's first place awards included a radio campaign for the Copper Development Association (CDA), as well as a single radio commercial for the same group, and a sales promotion piece for Fuji Medical Systems Inc. A four-color print ad for Duracell U.S.A. won the Stamford agency an additional citation for outstanding creativity.
M&R/M&H's winning of three top awards ranked it ahead of such Goliath-size agencies as Ogilvy & Mather, Ammirati Puris Lintas and N.W. Ayer. Commented Tom Hackett, M&R/M&H executive VP and chief creative officer, Typically our clients don't have huge media budgets, but we've always believed they deserve big ideas.
The Mobius Advertising Awards, founded in 1971, provide an international forum through which advertising agencies, producers, art directors and designers, TV and radio stations, and corporate advertisers can attain recognition for their creative endeavors.
Goodwick Scores Triple Point
NEWTOWN - Goodwick Associates has been chosen to provide advertising and sales promotion support for Triple Point Technology Inc.
Triple Point provides integrated, real-time commodities trading software solutions to major oil companies, electric and gas utilities, investment banks, brokerage houses, shipping lines, energy companies and global trading groups. The company is headquartered in Westport, with satellite offices in Houston, Texas and Geneva, Switzerland.
David Goodwick says his agency will be completely repackaging [Triple Point's] philosophy, reorienting their positions and transferring Triple Point's new image into all collateral materials, trade show displays, posters and Internet presence - all forms of media except PR.
Marketing to Tomorrow's Entrepreneurs
HARTFORD - The Connecticut Small Business Development Center (CSBDC) has selected Pite Plus Marketing to help promote its Minority Teen Entrepreneur Program.
According to CSBDC's Ana Alfano, a key factor in the decision was Elizabeth Pite's service on the public relations team for the SINA neighborhood revitalization project, a partnership of five Hartford organizations in Hartford's south end.
CERC Offers Market Research Tool
ROCKY HILL - Now available from the Connecticut Economic Resource Center (CERC): Connecticut Market Data 1998, an invaluable market research tool for local business owners.
Jeff Blodgett, CERC's director of information resources, says Connecticut Market Data 1998 consolidates data from federal, state and private sources into a single entity. Want to know which Connecticut towns have a labor surplus? Looking for a fast-growing regional market? Trying to find pockets of older - or younger - consumers? The answers are in one or more of more than 200 tables on a 3.5-inch high-density IBM-format floppy disk, all presented in formats that can be opened in any word-processing program and most popular spreadsheet applications.
CERC examined tax and population growth issues, as well as labor workforce statistics, on a town-by-town basis, Blodgett explains. Because the information is in spreadsheets, you can sort as you like and merge with other data you already have.
A copy of Connecticut Market Data 1998 will cost you $25 (plus the state's six-percent sales tax, of course). For particulars, or to order, call CERC at 1-800-392-2122.
