NEW HAVEN - Vion Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: VION) has filed an application to move a potential new anti-cancer drug into clinical trials. Triapine, a ribonucleotide reductase inhibitor, hinders cellular replication and has shown positive results in initial testing.
NORWALK - U.S. Surgical (NYSE: USS) announced that the U.S. Food & Drug Administration has given it approval to market its MIBB* system for breast biopsies. The system, designed for use with U.S. Surgical and other imaging technologies, minimizes intrusion and discomfort in taking tissue samples. It should be on the market in the U.S. early in 1998 and worldwide soon thereafter.
