Take It Back
It is important to critique the work of our public officials. Laurence Cohen's article in the October 20 edition Making His Mark did little to assess the quality of the work that State Consumer Protection Commissioner Mark Shiffrin has been doing since he was appointed to the role by Governor [John G.] Rowland.
The invective spewed by Mr. Cohen is baseless and does not contribute to the article. It is disrespectful of Mr. Shiffrin, who has been an exceptionally good public advocate since assuming office. Considering the danger that liquor holds for our public safety, especially with respect to traffic accidents, the Consumer Protection Commission seems the appropriate place to monitor and license liquor distribution in our state.
It seems as though Mr. Cohen thought of a catchy headline pun and then had to fill the space below it. The quality of the article is far below the standards and quality of the rest of your publication. It would be nice to see Mr. Cohen print an apology to Mr. Shiffrin.

Due to an editing error, our October 20 On the Record interview with Yale New Haven Health System President and CEO Joseph Zaccagnino tripped its own hyphens. As YNHH's Ken Best was quick to point out, Yale-New Haven Hospital has one; Yale New Haven Health System does not. We apologize that the piece was more non-error-free than we had thought.
