Barnum Institute of Science and History 820 Main Street, Bridgeport (203-331-1104). Chronicling the life and times of P.T. Barnum and Victorian architecture, the museum's newer exhibition wing by architect Richard Meier is available for corporate and non-profit functions. No private parties. Smaller meetings can be held in classroom/activities room, 60 theater-style and 48 seated. Available from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., the rate is $100 per hour for a minimum of two hours and $50 for each additional hour. Guests get group rate entrance for $4 pp ($5 regular). After 5 p.m., the 5,000-square-foot exhibition room is available. Exhibits change two to three times a year in this wing. No kitchen. No on-site catering. Rental is $1,000 per three hours, plus $100 for each additional hour. Indoor parking available after hours. CAPS Alternative Business Center 1 Enterprise Drive, Shelton (203-925-3900). Computer Alternative Processing Sites, offers its facilities to companies for training employees in-house but off-site, and a range of business functions and meetings. (CAPS does not offer training.) Choose from three classrooms. One high-tech 1,000-square-foot classroom equiped with 32 IBM-compatible 586 PCs and voice and data cabeling for each station. Two 1,000-square-foot classrooms, one high-tech with cables for sessions where employees bring in laptops and 600 square feet of flexible space for demonstrations. Other room arranged according to customers' needs, such as theatre-style seating. Rooms $150 to $250 per day, and $30 per PC, per day. A/V equipment and in-house catering available. Three function rooms: the Carousel and Clam Rooms seat 65 to 70 each, and the Rafaelli Room seats 140 banquet-style and 200 theatre-style. Serving kitchen available. Arrange for catering.
