MERIDEN - Yankee Gas Services, a subsidiary of Yankee Energy (NYSE: YES), has reached a settlement with the state's Department of Public Utility Control over Yankee Gas' base rates. In return for a $3.2 million credit to consumers, Yankee Gas will maintain its current base rates until the end of fiscal 2000. The average residential customer can expect $27 in credits over the 1997-98 winter.
