STAMFORD - Barry Strom, president of the Communication Design Group, returned from the International Telcom Card Exposition in Amsterdam to new orders from the Wall Street Journal and CIGNA insurance for the company's phone cards. The orders provide further evidence that on both sides of the Atlantic, the phone-card craze continues to grow as an advertising and marketing medium as well as an international collectible.
Strom says the Journal will use the card as a gift for survey-takers, and CIGNA as a marketing premium. And he adds that consumers are even buying them now to make phone calls. Sales of Peter Pan bus line phone cards started to increase once the company put up a sign promoting the cards near the pay phones in the terminals. Amazing. BNH
