Scan-Optics Completes Two Acquisitions

MANCHESTER - In a bid to capture more of the rapidly growing Third Party Maintenance business, Scan-Optics Inc. recently acquired the Maintenance Division of Access Corp. of Cincinnati for $3.3 million and combined it with its existing maintenance division. The new organization, called Access Services, will offer field maintenance services nationwide for advanced electro-mechanical equipment such as scanners, printers and tape drives. In June the company paid $7 million in cash for Southern Computer Systems (SCS), a Birmingham, Ala. data-entry and document-automation software company with more than 40,000 users worldwide.
