PanAmSat Hosts First-Ever HDTV Forum

GREENWICH - PanAmSat Corp. invited more than a dozen top broadcasters and developers of high-definition television (HDTV) to Napa, Calif. for the first-ever live demonstration of multiple HDTV systems transmitted via satellite. The tests, which were viewed by representatives from CBS, Disney, HBO, NBC and Turner Broadcasting, were conducted from the company's Napa teleport over its PAS-2 Pacific Ocean Region satellite. A leader in digital television services, PanAmSat recently celebrated the tenth anniversary of the launch of its PAS-1 satellite, the first international communications satellite ever launched by a commercial concern.
