NEW HAVEN - TransPro Inc. (NYSE: TPR) announced operating income of $0.9 million for the first quarter of 2002, relative to a loss of $3.3 million dollars in the first quarter of 2001. Net sales grew 11.5 percent to $51 million for the quarter, compared with $45.7 million a year ago. Revenue for the company's Automotive & Light Truck Group was $36.4 million, a 20.6-percent increase over the first quarter of 2001. Heavy Duty Group revenue was $14.5 million, 6.2 percent lower than the same quarter one year ago. This marks the third consecutive quarter of improved operating results before restructuring and other special charges on a quarter-over-quarter basis.
