| CHESHIRE - Michael Batista, owner of 11 Dunkin Donuts franchises, including two in Cheshire (and one on the way), is building a 23,000-square-foot doughnut bakery on Diana Court in the industrial north end of town. The bakery will employ 30 people, and should be open within a year. Batista, who also operates Dunkin Donut stores in Meriden and New Haven, has joined forces with another owner/operator in Wallingford, Prospect and Naugatuck for the bakery venture. Batista notes that there isn't enough volume in Cheshire alone for a venture of this size - hence the joint venture. The doughnuts will be baked at a central location, but 'finished' at the individual locations where they are sold, he says. (Finishing involves adding the frosting and fillings.) Batista's Route 10 operation, near the center of Cheshire, opened last year. He is now planning to expand the shop on South Main Street and will open a Dunkin Donuts inside the expanded Stop & Shop when that project is completed in Maplecroft Plaza later this year
