TRENTON, N.J.-Journal Register Company (NYSE:JRC) announced advertising revenues for the four weeks ended December 2, 2001 of $25.0 million compared to pro forma advertising revenues of $24.1 million for the four weeks ended November 26, 2000.
Total advertising revenues for Period 11 were up 3.4 percent as compared to pro forma advertising revenues for the prior year period; this includes the results of the Company's 2001 acquisitions.
In Connecticut, total advertising revenues at the Company's flagship, the New Haven Register, were up 5.4 percent in Period 11 as compared to the same period last year. The company claims this is the best advertising revenue performance in New Haven since Period Five of 2000. New Haven's Period 11 advertising revenues were led by growth in national, classified automotive and classified real estate. In addition, New Haven Register's national advertising revenues nearly doubled the prior year period's national revenues, driven by strong telecommunications and national automotive advertising.
