Mediterranean Grill Debuts in Milford
MILFORD - Waterfalls and waiters, Mediterranean specialties and martinis were the carte du jour at the July 15 opening of Amberjacks grill on New Haven Avenue in Milford. The nine-year-old South Norwalk eatery, whose kitchen is helmed by chef Raphael Marin, has expanded to New Haven County in a site overlooking Milford Harbor.
Framed
NEW HAVEN - The Eierweiss family, which has run the Frame Shop at 903 Whalley Avenue for some 35 years, has sold the business to Inger and Gabriel Desilva of Woodbridge. The couple will maintain the business' name.
Let's Get Small
NORTH HAVEN - I had to find an outlet for my desire to create tiny clothes with bunnies and chickies on them. That's what Linda Fiore, proprietor of the brand new Tiny Threads & Treasures at 448 Washington Avenue, really said. The Route 5 shop sells baby and children's clothing. Shoppers may find a preview at www.tinythreads.com.
For Art's Sake
WESTPORT - Tony DeSio, creator of the successful Mail Boxes Etc., has devised a new franchise concept: Image Arts Etc., whose first area outlet opened in late June at 1252 Post Road East. Owned by Matt Kanaga and Ken Kleban, Image Arts Etc. is a digital portrait studio, custom frame shop, print studio and fine art gallery. Entrepreneurs Kanaga and Kleban previously co-founded Credi-Trade, an international consulting company.
Ratted Out
HAMDEN - Abbott Pest Control at 60 Connolly Parkway, family-owned since 1934, has been sold to Arthur Cogswall, owner of Urban Pest Control. The newly merged business, Urban Abbott Pest Control, will operate in New Haven and Danbury. Levey Miller Maretz broker Harold Kent facilitated the deal.
Jobs Web Site Inks Clients
TRUMBULL - NewHavenCountyJobs.com, an online job board serving New Haven County, has signed several area companies as clients to post jobs.
The new clients include Krell Industries in Orange, O.F. Mossberg & Sons of North Haven, Cypress Recruiting Group and Healthcare Solutions Group LLC of Shelton.
NewHavenCountyJobs.com is an online job board serving south-central Connecticut, posting hundreds of jobs with local companies. Job seekers can browse jobs by keyword, category, city or company name. It is part of AllCountyJobs.com, LLC - Connecticut's Career Network.
Wentworth To Head CADC
HAMDEN - Amy Wentworth, proprietor of Elements graphic and Web design agency, has been elected president of the Connecticut Art Directors Club. Wentworth has been a CADC director for four years, and last year served as the organization's vice president. The CADC has some 350 members statewide, including graphic and Web design firms, ad agencies, freelance creatives, photographers and illustrators.
