CII Announces Q2 Investments

ROCKY HILL - Connecticut Innovations Inc., the state's technology investment arm, made six investments totaling $1.96 million during the second quarter of this year. These included $1.55 million in direct equity investments and $408,000 in what CII calls bioseed investments.
Beneficiaries were:
Software developer Bristol Technology of Danbury, which received a $285,000 follow-on investment;
Merlot Communications in Bethel, which garnered a $300,000 follow-on investment;
A similar follow-on investment in Branford's Netkey, which provides applications and software for enterprise self-service needs;
And NeuVis Software of Shelton, which received a $590,000 bridge investment.
Investments from the year-old Connecticut BioSeed Fund included:
A $157,655 initial investment in Hepaticus of Farmington, an emerging bioscience firm out of UConn;
And a $250,000 follow-on investment in Sopherion Therapeutics, a New Haven biotech.
