HAMDEN - Mist On Tanning, the first salon of its type in the state, say its owners, has opened in the Parkway Plaza on Dixwell Avenue. The mist-in technique, they say, can get sun-worshippers bronze without the bulbs.
Hamden residents Jerry and Diane Borodkin are the proprietors. They say that mist-on tanning is not only the latest in self-tanning technology but is also the safest.
The mist itself is comprised of a sunless tanning solution, which is 97-percent water. It also consists of moisturizer and dyehydra acetone (food coloring). The process, which takes about 15 minutes, gradually darkens the skin following the misting process and lasts for five to seven days. The process costs about $25.
