| NEW HAVEN - The year-old Bank of Southern Connecticut will open two new branches by year's end. One will be at 1475 Whalley Avenue in New Haven, near the Woodbridge town line. The other will be at West Main Street and Summit Place in Branford, the former site of a Friendly's restaurant. The bank said it planned to hire about a dozen new workers to staff the two branches. According to bank President Joseph Ciaburri, the bank presently has assets of about $33 million, including loans and investment securities.
