Health Net Offers Medicare HMO Product

LOS ANGELES - Health Net Inc. (NYSE: HNT) announced that it will offer a Medicare+Choice HMO product in 27 counties in five states in 2003, including three in Connecticut. The company also announced that it will lift Medicare+Choice enrollment caps in Fairfield, Hartford and New Haven counties in Connecticut.
“We want to continue to serve the very important senior market,” said Jay Gellert, Health Net's president and chief executive officer. “We know the Medicare+Choice program works when federal reimbursement rates reflect actual cost trends - and where physicians and hospitals are committed to the program as well.”
Once the company receives approval, Health Net will notify its Medicare+Choice enrollees of 2003 benefit and premium changes. Notification will be sent on or before October 30.
