Business Web Site To Lead Learning Charge at Expo

New Haven-based Second Wind Media Ltd.'s Conntact.com business Web site will present seven panels at the third annual Southern Connecticut Business Expo, scheduled for November 5 at the New Haven Citywide Field House on Sherman Parkway. Second Wind Media Ltd. is also publisher of Business New Haven.
In addition to the Conntact.com panels, featured speakers at the event will include U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman who will address the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce's Kick-off Breakfast preceding the trade show.
The Business Expo's keynote address will be presented by James J. Dunne III, senior managing principal at Sandler O'Neil & Partners, L.P. Dunne's firm was decimated with the loss of 66 people at the World Trade Center collapse of September 11, 2001. Dunne will talk about leadership, crisis management and the role of the CEO today.
The Conntact.com seminars will include: "Marketing in Tough Times," featuring three leading area advertising professionals: Chuck Mascola of Mascola, James McLaughlin of McLaughlin, DelVecchio & Casey, and Will Bradford of Brad4d Advertising. "Communicating in the Media" will include WTNH-TV anchor Keith Kountz, Business New Haven co-founder and Editor Michael C. Bingham and radio talk show host and WELI-AM program director Jerry Kristafer.
Bob Dorf of One-To-One Venture Partners and Richard Shanley of Deloitte & Touche will help business people better understand the venture-capital process in the "Raise More Money" panel discussion.
A special session, "Putting the Net to Work," will feature four Internet specialists discussing Internet Marketing 101. Bill Mulligan of Caffeine, Angelo Rosetti of Silicon Sound, George Aspland of e-Vision and Todd Green of the Palms Advertising will provide a complete round-up of Internet marketing approaches.
Conntact.com will also present three "how-to" panels, including: "Financing Your Small Business," with Marie Record, Connecticut district director of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA); "Doing Business with the Government," led by Arlene Vogel of the Procurement Assistance Center; and "Writing a Business Plan" with Zaiga Antonetti, director of the Connecticut Small Business Development Centers. Additional sessions will cover "Networking Effectively," featuring Alice Ostrover and presented by the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce; "Internet Security," presented by the Connecticut Technology Council and featuring CTC President Michael Theodore, Raptor CEO Peter Harris, Gualberto Ruano, chief technology officer of Genaissance Pharmaceuticals, and Joe Dolley, supervisory special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Michael Seid will present "Franchising Basics"; Stephen Lehman of the Entrepreneurs Source will lead a session called "Stop Making Money For Somebody Else"; and William F. Murray, assistant district director for economic development for the U.S. Small Business Administration will present an "SBA Lenders Update."
Conntact.com, known as "Connecticut's Business Address," features business news, events and data resources from across Connecticut.
Conntact.com is the home of Business New Haven's online Book of Lists and will be Second Wind Media's presenting vehicle for the Book of Lists Connecticut, to be published on November 15. The beta version of Conntact.com is currently live, and the site is expected to be launched in mid-October.
