HARTFORD - Connecticut business owners report that their economic recovery is slow and uneven, according too the latest quarterly survey from the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA). The study found that 48 percent of companies polled believe that are still being affected economically by the September 2001 terrorist attacks. Twenty-two percent said their business had previously been affected but no longer was, while and additional 30 percent said their businesses had not been impacted at all.
Measuring the impact of the slowdown, 33 percent of respondents said they had experienced a loss of business in excess of five percent. Another 26 percent of responding companies said business had slowed between one and five percent.
With regard to employment, only three percent of companies responding to the survey plan to increase their workforce by five percent or more by year's end, while 16 percent plan to cut headcount by up to five percent during the same period, CBIA reported.
