Business New Haven

Also as a consequence of the September 11 attacks, 2001 is turning out to be a disastrous year for area non-profits. As a consequence, the future of many of them is in doubt.
Beginning on page 18 of this edition, we have created a list of area non-profit organizations, both artistic and charitable, which depend on corporate support for sustenance.
In this year, we believe these groups are worthy of your special consideration. Nationwide, the non-profit community is feeling the effects of hundreds of millions of dollars redirected from traditional charitable causes to funds associated with the victims of the September 11 attacks and their families. While we certainly share the sentiments of the donors, our business community mustn't forget the needs of groups that provide essential services close to home.
Historically, New Haven has distinguished itself by its generous support of artistic and charitable endeavors. That generosity is one of the essential qualities that set this community apart from other cities.
We urge business owners and others in this season of giving to remember the organizations that enrich the life of our community and enhance the day-to-day welfare of its citizens.
