NEW HAVEN - A Woodbridge caterer has purchased the former Riviera Castle off Whalley Avenue and is giving it a $1.2 million facelift. Neil Abel, principal of Abel Caterers Inc., says he will turn the 70 Pond Lily Avenue building into a banquet hall to be known as the Belvedere. Abel, who paid a reported $715,000 for the building, hopes to open for business next month. In the 1980s the facility was known as September's Restaurant.
