Home Furnishings Chain Opens in Hamden

HAMDEN - Bed Bath & Beyond has opened its 469th store nationwide at 2045 Dixwell Avenue. A ribbon-cutting took place November 15 for the 24,000-square-foot retail facility.

A Tree Grows in Milford

MILFORD - Realtors in the Milford office of William Raveis Real Estate & Home Services contributed donations used to purchase ornaments and other tree trimmings for a five-foot Christmas tree. The fully decorated tree was raffled off December 13 by the Milford Hospital auxiliary, with proceeds to benefit less fortunate patients. Organizers of the drive at Raveis were Realtors Jeanne Delaney, Sue Cody and Amy Cotter, as well as Administrative Manager Patty Rosiello.

N.E. Tech Opens Training Facility

NEW BRITAIN - Citing increasing demand for its HVAC and electrical training programs, New England Technical Institute has opened a new facility for its HVAC programs at 159 John Downey Drive in New Britain. The expansion also paves the way for an expansion of the school's electrical program.

“The new 6,800-square-foot HVAC facility offers us the ability to train more students in our heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration class,” explains Dean of Students Bob Dockendorff. “While we officially started letting students use the new facility during the first week of December, the first classes to take full advantage of the facilities will start in March.”

Former Cinema Sold

MERIDEN - Holiday Enterprises, LLC has purchased the former Hoyt's Theater at 61 Pomeroy Avenue, Meriden for $1,475,000. The building houses about 38,500 square feet. Jay Wamester of Colliers Dow & Condon represented the seller, Lennar Partners of Miami, Fla.

Motel Changes Hands

WEST HAVEN - KBJ Hospitality, LLC, has purchased the Debonair Motel, 295 Beach Street, for $850,000. The 20-unit facility is sited on a one-acre waterfront parcel and includes a 5,000-square-foot restaurant/banquet facility. Kevin Weirsman of Colonial Properties was sole broker in the transaction.

Office Bldg. Fetches $1.31m

HAMDEN - Franklin Square Associates, LLC has purchased 2305 Whitney Avenue, Hamden for $1,310,000, approximately $52.40 per square foot for the 25,000-square-foot office space. Nicholas R. Morizio, SIOR, CRE of Colliers Dow & Condon represented both the seller, 2305 Whitney Ave., LLC, and the buyer.

West Haven Warehouse Sold

WEST HAVEN - A marketing and distribution company has purchased a 30,000-square-foot light industrial building at 30 Railroad Avenue for use as a warehouse and distribution facility. Sale price was $1.15 million, or slightly in excess of $40 per square foot. Gene Caso of Colonial Properties represented the seller, Fairfield Development Co., LLC, while Desmond, Virdulak & Brown represented the buyer.

Investor Buys Former Dentist Office

NEW HAVEN - 178 Sherman Avenue, a property formerly occupied by dentist Timothy Dare, has been purchased by Joan Latella for $170,000. Tom Cimini of Edgewood Realtors represented the buyer, while Michael Gordon of Levey Miller Maretz represented the seller, Connecticut Management, LLC.
Milford Bldg. Goes for $550K

MILFORD - Kevin Weirsman of Colonial Properties represented the seller in the transfer of a 8,200-square-foot light industrial/flex building on 0.75 acres at 75 Woodmont Road. The property is within a quarter-mile of Exit 40 off Interstate 95. William Raveis represented the buyer in the $550,000 sale.

LEASES

Day-Care Center Slated for Spring

MADISON - Children's Creative Learning Center has leased 3,500 square feet of newly built space on Old Post Road in Madison. The space will become the center's third child day-care facility (other centers are in Cheshire and Hamden). Occupancy is scheduled for early spring. Joel Galvin of H. Pearce Co.'s North Haven industrial/commercial office, represented both the landlord, Anderson-Wilcox, and the tenant. Galvin also represented James and Diana Morris in the sale of the property to Anderson-Wilcox.
