WETHERSFIELD - Connecticut's minimum wage increased to $6.90 per hour, effective January 1. The hike is the first of a two-step increase that will raise one of the nation's highest minimum wages to $7.10 on January 1 of next year. Although the federal hourly minimum wage remains at $5.15, the higher Connecticut minimum wage must be paid to all covered employees, says Gary K. Pechie, director of the state's Division of Wage & Workplace Standards.
