Business New Haven
2/3/2003

Amid the recrimination and bad feeling, there's plenty of blame to go around for New Haven Ravens owner Ed Massey's sale of the team to Massachusetts businessman Drew Weber, who has made it clear that he will relocated the Eastern League team to Manchester, N.H. following the 2003 season.
It's a shame. Hard to believe that an area with so rich a sports legacy could do no better than finish last in the Eastern League in attendance at a charming, historic facility such as Yale Field.
So in the span of three years, political indifference and civic inertia will have killed off three professional sports in New Haven, to say nothing of the region's only major indoor sports facility.
We've always been suspicious of Babbitt-style boosterism, but in this case a little civic cheerleading from big companies, City Hall and the chamber of commerce might have gone a long way.
In the words of the eternally optimistic Red Sox fan, There's always next year.
