Veterans Affairs (VA) Connecticut Healthcare System has named Michael H. Ebert, M.D., chief of staff. Ebert will also serve as the Yale University School of Medicine's associate dean for veterans affairs and professor of psychiatry. He spent 1984-2002 as psychiatry department chair at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Ebert is vice president of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and chairs its Psychiatry Council.
Yale University has named Peter Salovey dean of the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. The Chris Argyris Professor of Psychology and psychology department chair for the past two and a half years joined the Yale faculty in 1986 and became full professor in 1995. Salovey earned an A.B. in psychology and a co-terminal M.A. in sociology from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in psychology from Yale. He is the first dean of the graduate school to have been president of the Graduate Professional Student Senate.
Urix LLC, a health-care analytics, reporting and actuarial consulting firm in Cheshire, named Deborah Hine executive vice president and chief operating officer. Previously Hine was a director of Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, where she developed, implemented and managed Anthem's Medicaid HMO business.
The Regional Water Authority's Representative Policy Board (RPB) has named civic leader and attorney Richard G. Bell of Hamden a director of the Regional Water Authority. He replaces Melvin Eisenhandler, who retired following a five-year term. Bell retired from the law firm of Tyler Cooper & Alcorn, where he was managing partner and provided counsel to a variety of regulated industries and manufacturing industries.
Sherilyn Scully has been appointed assistant dean of students of the Quinnipiac University School of Law. Scully previously was an adjunct law professor at Quinnipiac and the University of Connecticut. The Guilford resident earned her law degree from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Oregon. She was recently appointed a fellow of Morse College at Yale University.
Peter M. Glazer, M.D., Ph.D., has been named chief of the Department of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale-New Haven Hospital and chair of the department at the Yale School of Medicine. Glazer holds a B.A. from Harvard College and M.Sc. from the University of Oxford, England. The Guilford resident earned his M.D. and Ph.D. in genetics from Yale University in 1987 and joined the Yale faculty in 1991 after a residency in therapeutic radiology at YNHH. In 1999, Glazer was promoted to professor of both therapeutic radiology and genetics.
The New England Exchange has appointed Angelo A. Rossetti executive director. In addition to overseeing all activities for the Exchange, Rossetti, the current president of SiliconSound, will be the executive director of the exchange's sister organizations, NEXTBusiness and the CT Corridor.
Don Hanson has joined Computer Resolutions Inc. as vice president of enterprise server solutions. The Easton resident will be responsible for marketing the company's enterprise server solutions and managing a team who will work with medium to large clients. Hanson has more than 20 years' experience in information technology and holds a bachelor's in marketing and management from Jacksonville (Fla.) University.
Elizabeth J. Herlihy of Branford has joined the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce as a business development executive. Formerly associate director of marketing for SBC/SNET Americast, Herlihy previously worked for Rollins, Heritage and TCI cable television companies.
Trumbull resident Jerry Simons has been named director of sales for Bic Consumer Products' superstores and office supplies division. Simons joined Bic's UK offices in 1994 and held a position in France before moving to the company's Milford headquarters as an account manager.
Mary Ellen Durso has been promoted to assistant dean of academic affairs at the Qunnipiac University School of Law. Durso will be responsible for assisting law students regarding academic issues. The Hamden resident has been the school's registrar since 1981, a position she will retain.
Albertus Magnus College has named Annette Bosley director of its Continuing Education Division. Bosley joined AMC as an academic coordinator in continuing education and most recently served as acting director. She earned a master's in English from Southern Connecticut State University and a bachelor's in English and Spanish from Sacred Heart University.
The American Historical Association (AHA) awarded the J. Russell Major Prize to Yale University professor Robert Harms for his book, The Diligent: A Voyage Through the Worlds of the Slave Trade. The J. Russell Major Prize is awarded to the best work in English on any aspect of French history. Harms is a member of the history department at Yale and chairs the African Studies Council of the Yale Center for International and Area Studies.
David M. Thomas has been named corporate sponsorship chairman of the American Heart Association's Vinosa 2003, a gala fundraising event to take place April 6 in South Norwalk. Thomas is chairman, CEO and president of IMS Health in Fairfield, provider of information solutions to the pharmaceutical and health-care industries.
John Naso of Westport has been named president and managing principal of Leggette, Brashears & Graham Inc. (LBG), a groundwater and environmental engineering consulting firm in Trumbull. Previously an LBG vice president, Naso has been with the firm since 1978. Naso is a certified professional geologist, having earned an M.S. in geology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a B.A. in geology from Lehman College, New York.
Also, Jeffrey M. Berman, M.D. of Cardiac Associates LLC has been named medical sponsorship chairman of Vinosa 2003. Berman recently entered private practice in Bridgeport and is the director of the catheterization laboratory at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. Money raised from Vinosa 2003 will help fund American Heart Association cardiovascular research and education, community programs and advocacy.
John F. Walsh of Branford has been elected vice chairman of the U.S. Postal Service board of governors. He succeeds S. David Fineman, who was elected chairman. Walsh was appointed a governor of the USPS in 1999. Walsh retired in 1997 as president of the Ninth Square Association in New Haven and served on the New Haven Parking Authority from 1992-98.
The Children's Center Community Programs in New Haven has named Albert Harary director of development. The private nonprofit organization provides services for children and families statewide.
Anthony Avallone has been named chairman of the 2003 membership campaign of the Branford Chamber of Commerce. Avallone is manager of Reitman Personnel of Branford and North Haven.
Nikki Oldaker has joined ERA Fort Hale in Branford as a real estate agent. Oldaker previously worked as a hotel general manager in Orlando, Fla., and operates a video and Internet production company, Show Biz East Productions.
