NORTHFORD - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has acquired the Gamewell Co., an Ashland, Mass.-based manufacturer of commercial fire control panels and emergency life safety systems. Known for its distinctive red fire alarm street boxes, Gamewell is a 151-year-old company with an established network that distributes products worldwide, according to Honeywell. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
"Gamewell provides a strategic fit with our existing portfolio as the world leader in fire controls and fire detection technology," said Mark Levy, president of Honeywell's Fire Solutions Group. Gamewell introduced the first wide-area network fire reporting system and was an early leader in the advancement of point identification systems and multi-criteria smoke sensing devices.
Gamewell becomes the fifth product line of Honeywell's Fire Systems Group, joining Fire-Lite Alarms, Fire Control Instruments, Notifier and Silent Knight. The Fire Systems Group is a division of Honeywell's Automation and Control Solutions unit.
