WALLINGFORD - If you have been thinking about learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), your chance will arrive Saturday, April 5 when the American Heart Association holds its third annual CPR Day at locations across the state. The training is free.
CPR Day will feature the AHA's "CPR For Family & Friends," a two-hour CPR training course designed to teach the lay public basic lifesaving skills of adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation - a technique combining mouth-to-mouth breathing and external chest compressions using hands-on practice with manikins. Participants will receive a course completion certificate. (The course is not a CPR certification course for professionals.)
The AHA asserts that a strong chain of survival nationwide, featuring more people trained in CPR and the widespread availability of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), could result in 40,000 or more lives saved each year from sudden cardiac arrest. Learn more about CPR Day by calling 877-242-4277.
