FAIRFIELD - The Fairfield Home Depot site, one of the larger holdings in Alfred Lenoci Sr.'s billion-dollar portfolio of properties, has been sold to the store's parent company for $22.8 million. The sale of the building and property is the second-largest transaction in Fairfield history. It comes as Lenoci faces a potential federal prison sentence for his role in the ongoing Bridgeport corruption scandal. He's also a defendant in a $2.2 billion civil racketeering case filed by the failed developer of the Bridgeport Harbour Place project.
The 67-year-old Lenoci, of Easton, and his son Alfred Jr., 40, pleaded guilty in 2001 to bribery and mail fraud charges in the ongoing investigation into municipal corruption in Bridgeport. The elder Lenoci faces up to $500,000 in fines and up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced July 20. He ranked third on 2002's list of the town's top ten taxpayers, behind General Electric Co. and the Aquarion Water Co.
