HAMDEN - The U.S Department of Education has awarded an $89,000 grant to the International Business Department in Quinnipiac University's School of Business to create a minor in European Union business studies and a European Union Business Studies Center. The [EU] is the United States' largest trading partner and its most significant near-term competitor, notes Robert Engle, D.B.A., associate professor of international business at Quinnipiac. The Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management Institute at QU, which offers professional courses and services to assist small-business owners and enterprise managers with skills to overcome specific business problems and issues, will support the project. In addition, several organizations - including a French university (the Ecole Superieure de Commerce-Rennes), the Connecticut Development Authority (CDA) and the Metro Hartford Regional Economic Alliance and its International Business Council - will assist Quinnipiac with its creation. The project will be implemented over a two-year period, beginning with the 2003-04 academic year.
