NEW HAVEN - The Saint Regis Health Center, Saint Raphael's 125-bed skilled nursing facility, has been renamed the Sister Anne Virginie Grimes Health Center, to honor the former Saint Raphael Healthcare System president and well-known community leader. The announcement was made at the May 22 groundbreaking ceremony for the center's $6 million expansion program.
Goals of the expansion include providing new and renovated bedrooms and bath/shower rooms that better respect residents' privacy and larger, dedicated therapy and recreation areas. A new four-story addition totaling 28,000 square feet will have 27 new bedrooms, a bathroom for every bedroom and a dining room, two resident/family lounges and a nursing station on each floor. There will also be a dedicated chapel and a family room providing private space for families to host a special event or to stay overnight when a resident is in the final stage of life.
