STAMFORD Executive-search firm Peter Gray Assoc. has launched a new division to mine a growing niche: the recruitment and placement of qualified diversity candidates. This division will conduct searches for staff, middle, senior and executive level positions.
Cultural diversity has become increasingly important to businesses in recent years. While most companies have a nondiscrimination policy, attaining real diversity can be problematic. Also, there is an increasing trend toward lawsuits brought by workers, minority activists, and watchdog groups against mid-sized and large corporations.
Accusations of discrimination can also lead to bad press, which can adversely affect sales and customer relations. Vendor relationships can also suffer as providers wish to distance themselves to avoid damage to their own reputations through their association with the accused firm.
