PURCHASE, N.Y. - Transportation officials from the Nutmeg and Empire states convened June 18 for the annual meeting of MetroPool at the corporate headquarters of Pepsico. They heard Harry Harris, bureau chief of the state Department of Transportation's Bureau of Public Transportation, and Bob Dennison Region 8 director of the N.Y. Department of Transportation, explore the future of transportation issues for the two states and underscore the importance of MetroPool's work in crafting transportation demand management solutions to manage mobility in the two states. MetroPool President John Lyons also presented six awards to area businesses, municipalities, agencies and individuals who have contributed to MetroPool's efforts. Among them: The Stamford division of Connecticut Transit, southwestern Connecticut's Job Access for People with Disabilities Project, and Patricia Lioi, director of Logistics for Swiss Re in Stamford.
