NEW HAVEN - At the request of the state's Department of Public Utility Control (DPUC), the United Illuminating Co. has filed for a review of its existing rates and has proposed a new long-term rate plan. The existing plan, approved by the DPUC, which sets basic electric rates for UI customers, has been in place since 1997 and expires at the end of this year.
In the filing, UI seeks no increases in its existing rates. The company is proposing a rate plan that is similar to the one that is presently in place, designed to maintain current rates through December 31, 2007.
