William J. Riordan, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of St. Vincent’s Health Services in Bridgeport, has earned the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award. The citation recognizes ACHE affiliates who have contributed to the advancement of health-care management excellence and the achievement of ACHE’s goals. Riordan has been president and CEO of St. Vincent’s Medical Center for 29 years

Les Trachtman, president and CEO of Transcentive Inc., has been named a director of the Connecticut Technology Council (CTC). Trachtman will chair the CTC’s software cluster, a subgroup of the council that serves its software constituency.

The Hearing, Balance & Speech Center in Hamden has appointed Karen Kibbe, M.A., F-AAA, CCC-A, to its staff of clinical audiologists. She will perform diagnostic audiological and hearing-aid evalutions, hearing-aid dispensing and tinnitus evaluations and restraining therapy. Kibbe served as clinical audiologist for 18 years at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medial Center in Lebanon, N.H.

David A. Mongilio has been appointed technical manager at Cytec Industries in Wallingford. He will be responsible for project engineering, process development and quality systems at Cytec’s coatings and performance products manufacturing plant. Most recently Mongilio worked as project leader at GE Plastics in Indiana. He is a graduate of Worcester (Mass.) Polytechnic Institute.

Christopher Zurcher has joined the Connecticut Fund for the Environment (CFE) as communications director. He is responsible for CFE’s publicity and increasing member activities. Zurcher has 15 years of journalism experience including four years with the Associated Press, four years with daily newspapers and five years writing and editing trade publications.

The W.M. Keck Foundation has named Kevin White, assistant professor of genetics at Yale School of Medicine, one of five grant recipients under its Young Scholars in Medical Research Program. The recipient’s sponsoring institution receives an award of up to $1 million to support the scientist’s research activities. White’s research combines computational and experimental methods to analyze how complex networks of genes control development and gene interaction.

The Arts Council of Greater New Haven has named Regional Water Authority Vice President Patricia B. Sweet president, and John R. Kessler Jr. of the Saint Raphael Healthcare System treasurer. New directors include Wiggin & Dana attorney Charles C. Kingsley; Linda Masci of Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Connecticut; Peter J. Newman of the architecture firm Herbert S. Newman & Partners Inc.; and Matt Scott of WTNH-TV in New Haven.

Tyler Cooper attorney Bob Metzler has been tapped as chairman of the United Way of Connecticut Inc. Metzler has served on the United Way board for more than seven years, helping to consolidate the United Way’s 2-1-1 INFOLINE program. He is a fellow of the American College of Investment Counsel and a member of bar associations including Connecticut, Hartford and New York.

Derby Mayor Marc Garofalo has earned the Valley Advisory Committee (VAC) Chairman’s Award, which recognizes a member who has helped guide the committee toward long-range sustainable community-development planning and implementation for the betterment of the lower Naugatuck River Valley. Garofalo is a member of the planning committee that oversees the Valley Needs & Opportunities Project.

Region 1 of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) has presented James E. Stenqvist, CPD with its 2003 Chairman’s Award. He is chief plumbing and fire protection engineer of Fletcher Thompson Inc. and president of ASPE’s Connecticut chapter. Stenqvist has designed plumbing and fire-protection systems and system components for projects including residential complexes, performing arts centers and aviation facilities.

Chambers USA has named Finn Dixon & Herling founding partner Harold B. Finn III the leading lawyer in the Corporate/M&A category in Connecticut. Chambers USA is a directory designed to reflect the opinion of legal professionals and clients based on third-party referrals.

David W. Thibault has been named vice president of finance for the Marlin Co. (TMC). Thibault was most recently the company’s controller. He earned his accounting degree from Quinnipiac University.

The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce has named Miriam Esther Menacherry of Orange, Eric M. Van Winkle of Branford and Ashley Hayes of New Haven winners of its annual scholarships. The chamber awards $1,000 to area youths to pursue a business course of study at an accredited college or university.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Haven has announced Gloribell Lopez as family-services coordinator. She is responsible for guiding families through the housing process with educational outreach and long-term support. Previously Lopez was a neighborhood specialist for New Haven’s Livable City Initiative and a counselor for the city’s board of education adult education center.

Leigh Anne Jones, AIA has been named first associate principal for the architecture firm of Arbonies King Vlock, PC. Jones joined AKV in 2002 and was project manager for the renovation and addition to Buley Library at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. Previously she managed capital projects at the University of Delaware in Newark.

Antonio Ponvert III has been named partner at the law firm of Koskoff, Koskoff & Beider, PC. Ponvert has been lead attorney in nationwide class actions including representation of smoking-injured Medicaid recipients and civil-rights litigation in state and federal courts. His practice is focused on individual and class action litigation, constitutional law, civil rights, public benefits, criminal trials and appeals. Ponvert joined Koskoff, Koskoff in 1999.

The Wellness Alliance has named Shari Lieberman head nutritionist to lead its corporate wellness education and intervention programs. Lieberman is the author of three books on nutrition including The Real Vitamin and Mineral Book. Lieberman is the current president of the American Association for Health Freedom, is a faculty member of the University of Bridgeport’s School of Human Nutrition and has run a private clinical practice in New York for 20 years.

Betsy Gorman, GRI and Loretta Rennie, CRS, ABR of Press/Cuozzo Realtors have received the Platinum Award presented by System 1 Real Estate Network Group of Connecticut. Realtor Dawn D’Auria of Press/Cuozzo Realtors received the Platinum Award from System 2 Network. The award reflect a high level of sales achievement. Susan Shaw Santoro, CRS, ABR of Press/Cuozzo Realtors has earned the Quarterly Achievement Award from the Greater New Haven Association of Realtors for the second consecutive quarter. Santoro has been a Realtor for 18 years.
